T-Shirt Mockup Panels - Illustrator

Mock Up Your T-Shirt Graphics on Fabric Panels and Make them Look Real

User Guide

The Illustrator version of T-Shirt Mockup Panels is a lightweight version compared to the Photoshop template.

There is no Displacement Map feature in Illustrator to warp your graphic to match the shape of the wrinkles of the fabric.

However, the option to quickly mock up your designs in Illustrator still has good results.

Instructions

1) Open your Layers Panel. (Window > Layers)

2) Turn on the visibilty of ONE of the FABRIC Layers. Leave the others invisible. Adjust the shadow intensity of these FABRIC Layers by adjusting the layer’s opacity in the Transparency Window.

3) Hide the visiblity of the default art layer, called “HIDE THIS LAYER.”

4) Paste your art into the “YOUR ART” layer.

You can have art in multiple layers. Just make sure they are located below the MAGIC FABRIC TEXTURE and above the HEATHER LAYER.

5) Assign a fabric color to the square background in the COLOR LAYER. Assign the SAME color to the MAGIC FABRIC TEXTURE. The easiest way to make these colors the same is to select both at the same time (by shift-clicking on both selection buttons of those layers), then assign a color.

BLACK FABRIC

6) To simulate black fabric, assign the COLOR LAYER and MAGIC FABRIC TEXTURE LAYERS a dark grey, instead of 100% black.

7) Go up to your visible FABRIC Layer and turn the Opacity up to 100% to increase the darkness of the shadows. If the shading darkness still isn’t enough for your liking, you can duplicate your chosen FABRIC Layer by dragging it down over the “create a new layer” icon. Turn down the opacity of your new duplicate FABRIC layer until the amount of shading contrast looks good.

LIGHT FABRIC

If you are going for a light or white color fabric, your FABRIC layer shading may appear too dark. Go up to your visible FABRIC Layer and decrease the Layer OPACITY somewhere less than 75%. (As shown in Step 2 above.)

8) To simulate a heather fabric, turn on the visibility of the HEATHER LAYER. You can adjust this layer’s opacity for more or less of an effect.

9) When you are happy with the results, you can export your image out as a JPEG or PNG with the File > Save for Web function.
